A site for AI resistance tactics, reclaiming agency and organising for better technology.

No One Likes Elon Musk

Probably including the man himself, which is understandable really.

Anyway, a bit of a novelty here as this has popped up in New York…

On a more resistance side focus I’ve always thought that the biggest potential push backs against AI would be split between data centers, which are immediate, physical and easy to hate – and anything involving kids. Not just the grotesque corporate indifference that enabled Musk’s xAI to churn out CSAM but also the insidious bleed of AI into schools and primary education. Again, it’s something that’s easy to hate and which very directly touches on peoples every day lives.

I’m usually a bit critical of art stunts like this – Led By Donkeys here in the UK are well known for them and their impact is… questionable, at times. But with clear focus points like this I’m all for them. Musk et al will make a concerted effort to bury stories like this, in fact there’s a well practiced narrative of guardrails, mistakes being made and lessons learnt to take the bite out of this sort of thing. So reinforcing the point, eliciting and repeating the visceral reaction most people have to such flagrant failings of basic ethical requirements, is going to be an ongoing struggle and an ongoing good.
